Admissions Process

Admissions Overview

Each year, YHIS admits students from Nursery (18-months old) to 5th grade. Our admission process concentrates on examining each child’s potential to contribute to and benefit from participating in the diverse YHIS community.

We accept students with no prior knowledge of Chinese into our early childhood programs. Children do not need Chinese support at home to succeed in this immersion environment.

For elementary school applicants, basic Chinese listening and speaking skills are required. We will consider applicants with no or minimal Chinese language skills if they are enthusiastic about learning in general and motivated to learn Chinese in particular.
